Dear Anthony's Italian Ice loyal customers,

Its hard to believe that its been more than fifteen years since I purchased Anthony's Italian Ice, reformulated our own recipe of ices and shared with you and your families' the best of summertime in Chicago.

A few weeks ago I was approached by Beth Levy from Chicago-based Groupon (a fellow customer) who hinted at the possibility of doing a feature "Groupon" on Mother's Day.  For those of you who don't know what Groupon is, it is a website that was started in order to allow for "groups" of people to come together and purchase a "coupon" for a deep discount.  Groupon has, in a way, started a buying revolution and now more and more "daily-deal" sites are being started--so when Groupon called I felt like I owed it to my loyal customers to provide a one-time-only deal as a small token of my appreciation for all of your support these years.

That said, with the Groupon launching this evening at midnight and the expectation that a thousand or more will be purchased, we expect an influx in business and ask that you remain patient should you visit us during peak periods.  Anythony's Italian Ice has put together the following measures so as to avoid any delays that the Groupon may create:

• Automated Groupon checkout using my iPod touch (this will make processing Groupons easier on my team)
• Increased staffing to account for the Groupon wave
• Increased production of all your favorite flavors of Anthony's Homemade Italian Ice
